Short trips on weekends are quite popular nowadays. These trips act as a refreshing pill for the mind and soul of the human body. After spending five intense days at work, the body needs some rest to get refreshed. Spas and parties can be a solution. But changing of the residential town for a couple of days works in a greater way.

There are several weekend destinations available within the British Kingdom. These spots provide ample greenery and scenic landscapes to rejuvenate your mind. One such place is Bristol that is located within the south west of England. This is the city which is famous for the Clifton Bridge and the Avon Gorge. This city is the most populous one available in the entire South-West England. However, the city experiences mild pleasant climatic conditions with snow and rainfall occurring mostly during the winter seasons.

Considered to be an ancient city, a Bristol weekend trip may let you relieve through the pages of history. There are several ancient sites to enjoy and experience while spending your weekend in Bristol. There are sites which are considered by the archeologists to be around 60,000 years old!


While at Bristol, one activity that you will surely love to participate is the Balloon trip. Yes, this is a fabulous experience that shouldn’t be missed. Huge sized hot air balloon with human operated mechanism are available to make you enjoy a view of the city from the top. You may stand at the top tower of the Clifton suspension bridge to view the city also, but the balloon trip is totally a different experience. You watch the city while you fly through the air. The entire city moves before your eyes and the gentle breeze touches your body with a feel of tenderness.

Apart from hot air balloon activity, there are plenty of places to view during your weekend stay. However, if one asks me about any three places that you want to visit all the time during the stay, then the following ones are my choice:

AVON GORGE – This is approximately 2.5 km in length. It can be found south towards the river Avon. If you want to view limestone, then this place should be given a visit.

CLIFTON SUSPENSION BRIDGE – The total length of the bridge is 412 meter and is situated over the river Avon.

FLOATING HARBOUR – Known to be in existence from the 13th century, this harbor covers an area of around 28.3 hectare. The water level remains same in spite of tides and floods. Hence, the name of floating harbor is tagged
