Under Floor Heating – The Three Types

Forced Air – This is the oldest technique available till date if you consider installing the underfloor heating devices. This form was first invented during the early Babylonian Civilization and was much used by the Romans. Due to the unique technique and the effective results, the system became quite a rage among the entire Roman Empire. The use of this system got spread widely among the royal families within the empire states.

A specially made pipe is placed beneath the floor surfaces. This pipe consisted of a series of small sized ducts. One end of the pipe is enclosed to a furnace from where hot air is produced and enters into the pipe. As the hot air passes through the pipe, the ducts provided necessary support to warm up the floor through the help of the warm air.

Hydraulic – This is also a type of underfloor heating procedure and is much similar to the above forced air one. However, there are certain new additions to this process. The first thing that is added is water. Yes my friends, in this procedure boiling warm instead of hot air is used to warm up the floors. A series of concealed pipes are installed beneath the ground surface.

One end of the pipes is attached to the water pump that is generating the water. As warm water passes through the pipe, the heat is transferred to the floor tile beneath which the pipes are installed. As a result, the warm-up procedure continues and the room starts to feel the heat. This is a cheap procedure and is used by various people living in places that feature mild winter conditions.

Electric - Considered to be the most popular in the entire list, this form is used and likes by probably the most number of people. The concept of warming up the floor surfaces may well be the same. However, this procedure may be a bit more on the portability.

Instead of installing big pipes, here slim electric wires are placed beneath the vacant places within the tiles of the floors. These wires are attached to the heat generating radiator device that is connected to the main electric supply of the house. This is a fast process of warming and is absolutely safe to use on wet floors also.
